Louisiana Healthcare Connections has given $500,000 each to two Louisiana Community & Technical College System schools to fund a three-year program called “Equity in Health & Care.” The program aims to eliminate health disparities and establish a more inclusive, representative healthcare system.
In supporting the Bossier Parish Community College and Delgado Community College, the recipients of the funding, Louisiana Healthcare Connections is aiming to improve, among other objectives and initiatives, community health and telehealth education. It also will offer scholarships to support financially disadvantaged students and Medicaid recipients pursuing higher education.
Furthermore, the program will address long-standing health disparities in a sustainable way by providing additional skills to an often-overlooked segment of the workforce.
Louisiana Healthcare Connections was established in 2011 as a Medicaid health plan to deliver superior benefits and programs that enhance the health and well-being of the families and communities under the care of the Louisiana Department of Health.
