Global biopharmaceutical powerhouse Bristol Myers Squibb announced today that it is making material progress in achieving its equity, inclusion and diversity goals, including some ahead of previously targeted milestone dates.
The company and its foundation committed $300 million to advance health equity goals by 2025, and progress has been made in each of the four priority areas to which Bristol Myers Squibb has committed; namely, enhancing health equity, increasing clinical trial diversity, expanding suppliers, and diversifying the company’s workforce.
Also announced today was the company’s goal to increase African American leaders in the Bristol Myers Squibb leadership hierarchy to 10% at the Executive Director level and above by the end of 2025. For Hispanic/Latino leaders, the goal, for the same level, is 11% by the end of 2025.
Additionally, the foundation has made significant progress in addressing health equity through its three-pronged approach, including the Winn Award Program, which is currently training early-stage investigator physicians on health equity-related topics.
Another company announcement today also was warmly embraced by health equity advocates. Specifically Briston Myers Squibb will be awarding grants of $10 million to 17 U.S. nonprofits this calendar year.
