Healthcare giant CVS announced its roll out of the Community Equity Alliance as part of the company’s move to advance health equity and focus disproportionately on underserved communities. Among the core tenets of the initiative is to address disparities in health among various underserved population segments by increasing the number of community health workers, facilitating greater collaboration between health care providers and the communities they serve, while also concentrating on solving for divergent outcomes and inequities in mental health and heart health.
The initial kick-off of the Alliance includes three institutions that will receive funding from CVS to develop, launch and support individualized solutions for improving health equity within the communities they service. These institutions include Wayne State University, Sinai Chicago and Meharry Medical College.
Among the objectives of CVS and Alliance members in launching and growing this initiative is to leverage the collective experience among all program participants by sharing feedback, best practices and proposed enhancements in order to ensure a continuing evolution of improved health equity for all communities touched by the Alliance.
