Eskenazi Health announced today the launch of its the Beyond Barriers campaign, a $60m initiative aimed at advancing health equity and increasing life expectancy for people living in Marion County and Central Indiana.
The campaign is part of the healthcare provider’s longstanding commitment to addressing social drivers that impact health and wellbeing.
The initiative also plans to establish by 2025 three initial health equity zones in defined geographic areas. The zones will include multiple organizations that will collaborate to tackle persistent social determinants of health, such as racial equity and economic mobility, with the aim of increasing life expectancy for neighborhood residents.
Health equity proponents embraced the move by Eskenazi Health to materially deepen its already strong commitment to reducing health inequities, as this initiative also will bring together a broad range of organizations, government and corporations to bring about tangible health equity results, particularly in underserved and low-income areas.
