Executive Team
Jonah Bassuk
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Jonah Bassuk is a changemaker. As a longtime social entrepreneur, he has harnessed the powerful force of organizations, including nonprofits and socially responsible businesses, and individuals, particularly students and young entrepreneurs, to maximize the potential of the social sector to create real and scalable impact.
Jonah’s deep passion for and experience in developing and scaling Health Equity solutions are driving key outcomes in helping to reduce health inequities, particularly among historically underrepresented and marginalized populations.
In 2015, Jonah created and launched an ongoing initiative to raise funds and resources for Children’s Hospitals to reshape the ways and extent to which children in hospitals could speed their time to “cure and endure,” engaging with books, toys, games, videos and other items to brighten their days recovering amid their hospital stays. In the ensuing years, Jonah also set out to transform and modernize the means by which Children’s Hospitals can get the funding, resources and donations they need to treat, remedy and uplift their young patients.
Since founding Strong Heroes, Jonah has been driving the organization’s work in achieving significant and measurable outcomes, with Strong Heroes growing to become a trailblazing health equity, health literacy and health justice enterprise, raising the bar in health equity, social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and community engagement.
Jonah’s leadership and work in health equity and social entrepreneurship have been recognized by leaders in government, academia and corporations, including in the United States Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives and by local, county and statewide lawmakers in jurisdictions impacted by his leadership and service.
