The Mississippi Department of Health’s (MSDH) Office of Preventive Health and Health Equity has granted almost $2 million to organizations aiming to address health disparities and promote health equity in underserved communities within the state.
Awardees were chosen based on their capability to overcome obstacles that impede positive health results, which are encountered by groups that have traditionally been excluded and marginalized, such as those whose limited language and literacy skills have served as a barrier to accessing quality healthcare.
The MSDH announced 12 awardees for the grant, including Jackson State University, Minority Farmers Alliance, the Church Triumphant Global, and University of Mississippi.
The grants seek to ensure that all Mississippi residents receive the help and support they need.
